Kristi Raik to YLE: A Strong Profile on Digitalisation and Cyber Security Helped Estonia Gain Membership in the UN Security Council

Estonia has achieved global visibility with its expertise in digital and cyber matters. The global dimension of Estonia’s foreign policy has thus far been weak, Kristi Raik, Director of the Estonian Foreign Policy Institute/ICDS said in an interview to the Finnish Public Broadcasting YLE on 14 June.

Now Estonia’s UNSC membership is forcing the country to develop a broader global agenda, but commitment to the Western community, above all through membership in the EU and NATO, continues to be a top priority, Raik argues.
